On Thursday, November 7th, the Club gathered at the VFW Hall for the presentation of our 79th Community Service Award. Surrounded by family and friends, community leaders, Rotarians and political colleagues at both the state and local levels, Brookline's former State Representative Frank Smizik basked in an outpouring of gratitude, respect and affection. It was a wonderful event, highlighted by remarks from State Treasurer Deb Goldberg, former Select Board member - and congressional aspirant - Jesse Mermell, with music by Bo Winiker, and the presentation (by current State Rep Tommy Vitollo) of a photograph of the Massachusetts House members the year that Frank Smizik took his seat in that body. It was all served up with a dash of humor, and (forgive the cliche') a really good time was had by everyone. Our thanks to all who had a hand in the success.
